This October I had my second rotator cuff surgery at
the American Hospital Dubai.
Many thanks to the nursing staff for their care and support.
My Fairtrade journey was tweeted by Chief Executive of the World Fairtrade Organization Enrich Sahan and
Michael Sarcauga.
I was nominated for a Social Impact Award by Anj Handa at Inspiring Women Change makers, UK.
What is a rotator cuff and tear?
What is a frozen shoulder?
Me sedated before my second awful rotator cuff left shoulder surgery at the American Hospital Dubai, October 1st 2018
After two rotator cuff surgeries I thought I'd share my experience.
My first surgery was relatively easy and the healing process slow but steady.
My second surgery has been far more challenging and difficult.
The pain has been constant preventing me from having a good nights sleep.
I have struggled with pain management.
I weaned myself off Co-Codamol, Ibruprofen, and Tramal after the first 4 days of surgery. These tablets cause severe constipation, nausea and drowsiness.
The pain has been so intense I cried myself to sleep from exhaustion.
It was recommended by my orthopedic surgeon Dr Toma's Nau that I complete a course of Suplasyn injections to rejuvenate muscle tissue.
The first course was injected in both shoulders during my second surgery.
The symptoms of these injections have been intense pain, sleep deprivation, sweating and hot flushes.
Deep Heat patches have been a God send.
Panadol Joint pain capsules have worked well dulling pain for up to 4 hours.
Infrared Massager has revigorated circulation in my shoulder reducing pain for a few hours.
I am hoping to attend Acupuncture sessions in the future and will keep you updated.
Physiotherapy sessions will be conducted once my pain levels decrease.
